A Look Back: The Discovery of MSM
Before MISMO even existed, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) was making waves in the health world. Originally studied for its role in joint health and inflammation, MSM is a naturally occurring sulfur compound that plays a key role in collagen production, skin repair, and reducing inflammation. Despite its incredible benefits, MSM was relatively unknown in the skincare space for years.
That is, until Irene, our founder, discovered its potential firsthand.
How MISMO Began: Getting Ahead of the Curve
More than 20 years ago, in her 50s, Irene wasn’t willing to sit back and accept that her skin issues—particularly rosacea—were something she just had to live with. She started researching, testing, and formulating, determined to find a solution that actually worked.
At a time when MSM wasn’t widely recognized for skincare, Irene was ahead of the curve. She saw what others hadn’t yet—MSM’s ability to soothe inflammation, support collagen, and deeply nourish the skin. MISMO was born out of this discovery, creating skincare that wasn’t just about covering up problems, but about supporting the skin from within and preventing issues before they took hold.
Our very first product was Cell Soother. It is a fast-absorbing, multi-purpose gel designed to reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation.
