Salad For Your Skin?

I am always hearing about eating your way to better health and was wondering whether I could 'eat my way to better skin?'...So I decided to look into some ingredients that are great for our skin and create some recipes that I could regularly cook to improve my skin as well as my health.
I thought I'd start with a salad seeing that the warm sunny salad days will soon be gone. Stay tuned as I already have some great ideas for some heart warming dishes for the upcoming colder weather.
Super Skin Salad
(Serves 4)
Ingredients
4 cups of Baby Spinach
1 Cup Quinoa Cooked
230g Chickpeas Cooked (or 1 Tin)
1 Avocado Diced
1/2 Cup Chopped Almonds
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Small Garlic Clove Crushed
Directions
1. Combine Quinoa, Chickpeas, diced avocado and chopped almonds in a large bowl and gently toss.
2. Shake the lemon juice, Olive Oil and Garlic in a small jar to make the dressing.
3. Add the spinach leaves to the quinoa, chickpeas and avocado and add the dressing, gentle toss all ingredients.

Spinach-is packed with anti-oxidants which work to slow down the ageing process and protect skin cells, spinach also strengthens our skin tissue and is high in anti-inflammatory properties.
Quinoa-high levels of magnesium promote skin elasticity and regenerate skin cells, while vitamin B2 (riboflavin) builds up connective tissues and is integral to cell reparation
Chickpeas-The manganese in chickpeas helps skin cells produce energy and fights wrinkle-causing free-radical damage and they also contain large amounts of folate - a B vitamin that skin cells need in order to repair damage from sun and toxins.
Avocado-A good source of biotin, avocados help to prevent dry skin, brittle hair and nails.
Almonds-Are a great source of Vitamin E Omega -3's two elements that keep your skin cells plump and healthy.
Lemon Juice-Lemon helps in the detoxification process of the body and, is full of Vitamin C which is also responsible for building up collagen in our skin, which helps keep our skin firm and young
Garlic-is a natural anti-oxidant and also wonderful for our skin.

What is MSM?

MSM (Methyl Sulphonyl Methane or Dimethyl Sulfone) is an organic sulphur compound found in all living organisms. It is the purest and most bio-available form of sulphur, one of the essential minerals crucial to life and the regeneration of cells. Where is MSM found and how is it manufactured?

MSM is found in the fluid and tissue of all living organisms. It is present in a variety of foods including raw vegetables, eggs, milk and fish, but is lost through cooking and food processing. One of the richest natural supplies is pine trees and cabbage.

Although MSM is abundant in nature, even the richest natural sources only provide MSM in the level of several parts per million. Commercial extraction of MSM from trees is not possible so a process is undertaken which parallels the natural oxidation that occurs in the marine atmosphere and produces MSM that is chemically identical to that found in nature.

How pure is MISMO MSM?

Every batch of our MSM is rigourously tested by an independent laboratory to ensure the highest quality, minimum 99.99% pure MSM.

    How much MISMO MSM should I be taking?

    An average dose is between 2 to 6 grams daily. Most people take a teaspoon (approx. 4 grams) daily. If more relief is needed, increase the dose slowly. Can be taken in water or juice after breakfast, although there are no rules as to when you should take MSM.

    A word of caution ... some people find if they take MSM late in the day, after 4 or 5pm, they do not sleep as well, as it energises them. This is not a general occurrence but worth mentioning.

    WARNINGS: If taking Warfarin or strong blood thinners, do not take MSM without your doctor's approval. Not to be taken by children without a health professional's advice.  MSM can also interfere with the accuracy of the blood test for liver enzymes by sometimes producing false positive results. It is recommended you cease taking MSM at least 4 days before these blood tests. You can resume after the test.
