Our Story
How we got started
MISMO is an Australian owned company that has been developing and manufacturing an effective and affordable range of natural skin care, pain management and exercise recovery products since 2002.
The company was founded by Irene McDonald who was inspired to produce the first nutritional skincare range based around MSM due to her very personal journey.
On the family dairy farm in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Irene was first introduced to MSM by a neighbour who had long been using MSM for animal health and wellbeing. Research then led to understanding the broader benefits of MSM for skin health and Irene began developing the MISMO range of natural, non-irritating skin care products. In part this was to help with a serious case of Rosacea and the fast relief that skincare formulations containing MSM were able to provide.
Over the last 20 years the MISMO skin care range has continued to expand, and formulations have been fine-tuned as research has evolved and new active ingredients have become available and proven effective. MISMO MSM and a range of magnesium products complement the skin care range.
MISMO has grown through word-of-mouth from a loyal group of customers and has now shipped over 100,000 orders across Australia and around the world.

Our philosophy is to take the very best of laboratory-synthesised ingredients and the very best naturally-derived ingredients and combine the two in synergy to create highly effective, evidence-based, ethical skincare.
MISMO skincare products are all made in Queensland and contain natural oils, organic aloe vera, and MSM. We DO NOT use propylene glycol, parabens, mineral oils, alcohol, sodium laurel sulphate, micro-beads or colouring. Fragrance (where applicable) is achieved by blending hypo-allergenic aromas.
The long-term health of your skin and health is always our top priority.
Our commitment to our planet and sustainability
We love and respect our environment and are mindful of the impact we have on that environment. We continue to look for more sustainable ways of working and try to source as much of our raw materials and packaging supplies from within Australia and favour local suppliers wherever possible.
Most of our packaging is made from recyclable or renewable materials; we also use plant-based inks, biodegradable wrapping paper, and the mail sachets we use are made from 100% recyclable material.

Traditional Owners Statement
MISMO acknowledges the traditional custodians of country around Australia — especially the the Kabi Kabi people and the Jinibara people here on the Sunshine Coast where we are based — and their connections to land, sea and community.
We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nation’s People today.
