Winter is Coming - Protect Your Skin
Winter is already showing itself in many parts of Australia so now is the time to prepare your skin. Here are a few tips to avoid that awful dry, stingy feeling that cold weather brings:
HYDRATE INTERNALLY
Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. Often we don't remember water in winter as thirst is not as strong in cold weather as on those hot summer days but your body still needs water, if not as much. If you are a coffee or alcohol drinker, your need for increasing water intake is higher at any time of year. Both beverages dehydrate the body so for every glass or cup of coffee or alcohol add 1 glass of water.
SET UP A BARRIER
Your face will need some extra TLC (tender loving care) for the next few months so prepare your bathroom cupboard. Extra oil on your skin will be very important. The answer there is easy - ACE Vitamin C Serum. This light but super nourishing serum will literally feed your complexion. While we recommend evening use in warmer weather, morning and evening will be more effective in winter. Your skin needs a barrier to protect it not only from the elements but from heating/air conditioning which is so drying on the complexion. Going from a warm office, home or car then outside is giving you face a shock every time hence the need for a barrier. Your body is protected with clothing but not your face and hands - aah don't forget your hands. ACE LOVES hands. Youthful hands show off rings so well and lips soften applying ACE twice a day too. EXFOLIATE
Exfoliation is a must during winter. As the skin tends to dry, more dead skin cells will form and need to be removed. Think about your legs and that lovely flaky look you often discover toward the end of winter - and legs are usually covered. This is happening to your delicate face and neck so once or twice a week depending on your skin type exfoliate with Microderm Resurfacing cream. Your face will then drink in those beautiful oils and active ingredients you apply afterwards.
MOISTURISE LEGS AND ARMS
Much winter clothing has a component of polyester which tends to dry the skin so you may find your legs and arms are looking dry and scaly. We tend not to think about exfoliating these parts of the body but you will see the benefit for the short time it takes in the shower. Remember to apply a quality natural body lotion to keep skin soft and supple after. Unfortunately MISMO does not have a body lotion as such, but I apply Magnesium Gel and get a double bonus.
